I just watched the Karate Kid, so now I want to sign up for a martial arts class. I don't know if I should do Karate or Tae Kwan Do. Karate is, well, just plain cool, but I found a really reputable-looking Tae Kwan Do studio in North Olmsted. My biggest problem is taking a Karate (or any martial arts class) from a whitey. I just don't seem right. From my research, Karate is much older than TKD, with the Koreans seeming to have borrowed many things from the Japanese and Chinese later on. Hmm...the Koreans "borrowed" a lot artistically speaking over the centuries, but I digress. TKD seems to involve a better balance of "hard" and "soft" techniques, with more kicking. But Karate seems to have more complex movements. I just don't know. If Mr. Miyagi could teach me Karate, my choice would be easy. Well anyway, I found both types of classes on my early nights, plus Saturdays. Oh, and the TKD studio in N. Olmstead has a beginner special for the month of June. $29 for two private lessons to get going and a free uniform. And the instructor is really Korean, so that's a plus.
Nicky, where do you take your classes?
If any of you are interested in going with me, let me know (sorry KT, we work different schedules so you probably won't be able to.)

Rules of Engagement:
I think we all agreed on these, but I thought I'd post them anyway.
1. You can write whatever you want.
2. You don't have to have something new each week to participate.
3. Items should be double-spaced, 12pt. font, and left aligned to facilitate reading and provide consistency.
4. Include a blank page at the end for comments.
5. Do not be offended by constructive criticism...it's all for the greater good.
5.5 If you see an old lady from church, or a wombat -- run.
6. Try to have fun.
6.25 Remember us when you're famous!
Feel free to add to the list.

I must relay this incident that occurred yesterday on my lunch break:
I was driving to Wendy's for my chili and baked potato, when I noticed a spider on my car door right next to the rearview mirror. He was crawling along the edge of the window, apparently confused as to why he couldn't walk through the glass. This was no average spider. He was about the size of a nickle, very hairy, with thin black and white stripes. All in all, he looked like a miniature tarantula. I rolled down the window to blow him away (literally).
Then he did the cutest thing. He was so frightened by the moving pane of glass, he ran and crouched down in the niche of the door. I think he thought he was well-hidden, but he was really in plain view. I leaned close and peered into his eight glassy eyes, ready to end his life with a flick of my fingers.
I just couldn't do it. That spider was so cute. We made a connection during that trip to the drive thru, and I dubbed him Ferdinand. He is currently living behind my rearview mirror.

If you lived in the desert amongst a group of semi-nomadic people, and had never seen someone with blonde hair, what would be an appropriate description? I was thinking "hair the color of butter," but I don't know if that sounds gross. I would hate to make the hair sound greasy. I don't want to say "yellow" or "gold" or "flaxen."
Maybe I'll stick with "butter." It's kinda unusual.

I upgraded my account. I guess that's the only way you can insert pictures into your journal entries. That way when I go to London in July, I can excite you with a daily dose of photographs.

Hello...Is there anybody out there?
Thanks to my two new best friends -- you shall remain nameless -- I have been mildly coerced into creating a livejournal account. After some confusion over whether my true love was pyrite or pirates, all seems to be going well. I really do like fool's gold, but I prefer nautical hijinks.
Nothing exciting happened to me today other than the fact that I got up at 6:30 AM of my on volition. Oh...and I'm having enchiladas for dinner (sans moldy cheese).
